The Wedding

The Wedding
Because there was no moon
Our young sister was married
By the light of the stars.
She walked slowly the length
Of the aisle of the river,
The stone arched above her
And the windows were water
Patterned with lilies and garlands of reeds.
She walks with her bridegroom
Down the nave of the sea
To the pealof the waves
And lightly-flung sand grains.
We called to her , called to her
And the echoo returned to us
From the vaults of the ocean.
Because there was no moon
Our young sister was married
By the light of the stars
And her heart was closed
Within a light ring coral
